It has taken a few decades of experience, more education than I care to admit, and incredible mentors to give me the tools to make a dent in improving healthcare. There is no industry more complex or challenging than Healthcare – but none as rewarding. I know I “chose wisely” by dedicating my career to healthcare, technology, and leadership to realize solutions that reduce suffering for patients around the world and help people live their best.From machining parts in an office building startup for a next generation robot, to convincing a Fortune 350 MedTech to expand its mission to save lives through smart devices; from bringing the software startup culture into an incredibly robust and capable medical device company, to convincing my ten-year-old gamer son that his dad really does create computer games that make people healthier - I have been blessed with opportunities to have ever-increasing impact across healthcare globally. During development of my first product, a catheterization simulator for premature babies (neonates), my daughter was born prematurely and required catheterization. I took the development team to my daughter’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for user and clinical research, knowing that despite my anxiety, this was an opportunity to help future neonates. That’s when I knew I made the right career choice. Whether leading companies, driving transformation, corporate functions, digital and data strategy, or commercializing technology, I learn daily from the teams, companies and people that strive to transform care. Working with startups and thought-leading government, industry and academic institutions, helps me understand the multi-modal challenges and possibilities to plant the seeds of improvement. For example, at Anavo DX, we built a novel platform to address the biggest challenges to Digital Health innovation today – the massive, complex, poorly understood and growing regulatory and compliance burden that slows development to a crawl.Today, I learn from and work with the incredible team at Redesign Health to improve care access, reduce physician burden and vastly improve the adoption of life-saving and life-improving innovationsEverywhere you look in healthcare there are challenges and opportunities to build businesses that do well by doing good, leverage technological innovations, drive efficiency, and, most importantly, improve the lives of patients and those caring for patients. Looking forward, I will continue to contribute to organizations tackling the biggest challenges in healthcare through digital innovation.
