This required broad knowledge of most L2 / L3 / L4 switching, bridge, and routing protocols, including critical security software (Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall, Intrusion Detection (IDS), NAPT and IPsec / VPN).• Formal training of Field Application Engineers, new hires and licensees / customers during period of rapid growth.• Designed and implemented Voice over ATM (DSL) solutions personally, allowing entry to telco voice market.• Built from scratch site’s Linux network creating consistency of development environments across sites.• Served in side role as interim site Red Hat Linux administrator for 1 year during integration of RSA into Virata.

Designed and implemented PVC management for every release of the FLX-2500, BroadBand’s second generation FTTC product. Maintain the code for on-demand Switched Virtual Connections, a UNI 3.1 implementation. Served as the X.25 expert for the FLX-1100, the company’s first product, during field trials at Bell Atlantic. X.25 was used as the operations interface as well as for on-demand interactive sessions. This included providing on-site support during initial system turn-up as well as field troubleshooting during field deployment. Implemented FTP over X.25 for database backup and restore using an “off the shelf” TCP/IP package.Following the spin-off to Bosch Telecom, I served as functional Leader for VB5.x (a predecessor to BPON). This included developing the Real Time Management Co-Ordination Protocol and designing code to implement the management of semi-permanent, provisioned Virtual Path Connections and Virtual Channel Connections.

Module Manager for Data Error Correction and Compression Software. This involved developing, supporting, testing, updating, integrating new protocols into the existing software, creating supporting documentation and clearly defining the subcomponents for modularity and “portability”. Rewrote the data compression code and modified the I/O code (M68302 and Z180 assembly) for better performance at high line rates. Technical leader for a project to design and implement V.42 (LAP-M) on IBM’s MWave DSP. Designed and coded a Rockwell RC144 Data Pump device driver module. Some other projects included: Initial port, update and maintenance of all the firmware for RSA’s Motorola 68302 reference board. Developed AutoSync I/O for M68302 platforms. Designed and implemented the company’s first email system.
