As a project and portfolio leader, I have led multi-functional teams of 30 people: encouraging collaboration, taking time to develop strong relationships with individuals and establishing an environment which allows everyone to contribute their expertise. I am passionate about coaching and mentoring to help others develop their project management skills.I specialise in initiating complex projects (most recently, a £1bn transformational project to develop cutting-edge electronic countermeasure equipment and install it in thousands of vehicles). I believe that every project deserves exceptional initiation, and I enjoy using my knowledge and experience to establish firm foundations for future success. I engage confidently with senior stakeholders and suppliers, and delegate effectively to my team - providing nurturing support to help them develop. Combined with my strong focus on governance, this is a winning formula for project delivery.I have expertise in inventing, adapting and creating new approaches to solve technical problems; mentoring and coaching others (both within my direct team and more widely throughout the organisation); leading and coordinating collaborative multi-disciplinary teams with a focus on project delivery; planning and initiating projects and establishing robust governance; making sense of complexity; commercial negotiations; leadership and mediation.I have worked for Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S – part of the Ministry of Defence) for 14 years, and I was one of the first Chartered Project Professionals in the UK. I am currently looking for a new challenge - perhaps delivering a major transformation project or an internal change initiative; or into a role that would allow me to use my coaching and mentoring skills.
