Keys bodies of work revolve around alignment of worldwide cross business partners and stakeholders, defining & implementation of the multi year program plan, assessing financial impact, budgeting & communications to Stakeholders/VP’s etc. - Additional Areas of Involvement -With such a large site in Leixlip (Central EMEA Printing Hub) & over 1200 employees there are a number of initiatives ongoing. I manage the university internship program across the printing engineering and businesses. I’m also very active in employee engagement and play an active part in organizing site activates (Kids Xmas party, bring your child to work etc).
Engineering Project Manager
R&D Engineering project manager for new consumer inkjet printing cartridges. Lead a worldwide team of engineering across multiple different programs to develop new cartridge technology. These teams cover a range of functions from early fluidics & silicon performance evaluations right through to manufacturing challenges and ramping the product for release to the regions/customers. Electrical Hardware Engineer
Working within a small research team to develop prototype use cases for sensing systems networks and 'Internet Of Things' [IOT] initiative. The role was leading the design and layout of discrete level sensor measurement circuits and architecture of SOC wireless systems for real world prototypes. Role skills would have been: embedded firmware coding [C++], wireless protocols & communications stacks, analog/digital sensor measurement etc. The novel development and integration of chemical and mechanical sensors was a key component of this work. Electrical characterization and extensive automation of testing was required, this involved a wide range of tooling along with an indepth knowledge of LabVIEW.
Research Scientist
Working with Hp Labs in Bristol, Palo Alto & a Hp business group based in Oregon USA our research team was tasked with development of transparent flexible electronics on plastics. The other site focused mainly on reflective colour display technology whereas our remit was on the flexible transparent backplane and passive circuitry. This research encompassed invention at the fundamental level and a vast breath of areas of expertise to develop materials, processes and testing to bring early stage prototypes together. Within this work I would have had weekly hands on experience with: photolithography, electroplating, electrophoretic deposition, electrical testing & design of integrated passive components & filters.A second stream within this focus was our collaboration with the CRANN institute in Trinity college Dublin. We worked with researcher there to advance flexible transparent conductors and scale them to a viable high volume process. Our work entailed inkjet & spray deposition & analysis of solutions of both carbon nanotubes [CNT's] & Silver nanowires [AgNW]
Reliability Engineer
Building on internship placement, I expanded my role as a Reliability Engineer for new products within the inkjet printing development group. This role involved design test & experiments to mimic real world customer situation to ensure robustness of design and prototype suitability for purpose. The complexity of the systems required a breath of knowledge across all areas (Silicon, Photolithography, electroplating, plastics etc) in the pursuit of design or material weaknesses. Program time constraints and limited samples sizes meant an understanding of statistical analysis & significance along with extensive accelerated testing formed the core function of the role.

Pilot internship program supported by the Higher Education Authority [HEA] to better transition university students into the workplace. For the final two years of my degree I worked 2 days a week in Hp and full time during the summer. My placement was within the R&D Reliability team for consumer inkjet cartridges. The role consisted of failure analysis (mechanical, electrical etc), statistical analysis and reporting of results.
