About David Forrester

An experienced manager bringing a background in finance to my current role as Software Engineering Director at Siemens Digital Industries.Joining Lightwork Design as their first professional finance manager in 1997, growing to be Finance Director and subsequently leading the management buy-out of the business (together with MachineWorks Limited) backed by Mobeus Private Equity and HSBC at which time became the CEO. Exited MachineWorks successfully in 2014 with a trade sale followed by the sale of Lightworks to Siemens Digital Industries in 2018. Both sales provided excellent returns to our investors.Role in Siemens is a combination of areas where I can harness my skill set. Managing the Sheffield office which has grown significantly since our acquisition and is pinpointed to grow further by way of a world-class recruitment process and very strong staff retention, whilst ensuring a great culture to work in.Also responsible for managing the relationship with our partner Sony, bringing their ground-breaking mixed-reality headset to market working directly with the industry standard Siemens NX 3D CAD modelling system - the combination providing Immersive Engineering.Using the background of finance, acquisitions and software management now also manage the process of Dealbook within the Product Engineering segment of Siemens Digital Industries. This involves reviewing and analysing companies in our sector that would add value to the existing product offerings. This could be by way of partnership or potentially acquisition.
