David started his studies in conservation and restoration in 1999, eventually obtaining a Bachelor and Master degree. He holds a Maltese warrant in conservation and restoration of paintings and polychrome sculpture. David treated numerous artworks, including severely damaged ones that demanded challenging treatments. Apart from Old Master works, David also treated Modern and Contemporary artworks that demanded novel aproaches and techniques. David firmly believes in keeping abreast with the latest materials and treatment methodology in conservation. Research is essential, espescially when faced with new challenges. Apart from remeadial treatments, David also advocates the importance of preventive conservation - which is a scientific approach aimed at prolonging the lifetime of artworks. David's main interest lies in methods that can effectively stabillise the relative humidity of artworks in order to limit artworks from deforming, cracking, and from losing paint. Such measures include the discreet sealing of paintings inside their own decorative frame which effectively stabilises the artworks' moisture content. David has lectured, supervised, and coordinated undergraduate conservation courses. He also firmly believes in the importance of educating the general public since everyone can contribute in saving our treasures.
