Until recently I was CEO of this really exciting digital health tech company, which is truly changing the way people with autism and mental heath conditions can support themselves. As CEO I took the company from start up to a profitable enterprise with nearly 40 employees, serve nearly 25% of all local authority social services and over 80% of universities in the UK. I remain on the Board as an executive Director focusing on funding, investors and supporting the CEO on major commerical issues.I have spent most of my career developing new businesses, and advising chief executives and board members on implementing major change in a variety sectors that range from central and local government, health and policing in the public sector, to the pharmaceuticals & healthcare industry, financial services and consumer technology in the private sector.

CeoBrain In Hand 2013 - Jan 2020Exeter, England, GbBrain in Hand is an on-demand support system accessible via mobile, tablet and PC which delivers both pre-planned digital solutions and human support via a digital interface. A self-management tool for everyday living. It was originally designed specifically to help people with autism although it is now also used extensively in mental health pathways, learning disabilities and acquired brain injury. It is used in Adult and Children’s services in over 25% of local authorities social care teams, and in education over 80% of universities in England have students using Brain in Hand. In total we have helped over 4,000 people. Some authorities report savings of up to £6,500 per person and we have a long list of user case studies where they have achieved things on their own that they would not have thought was possible.Our vision is for BIH to support all stages of life: improving access and attainment in school; helping students follow a course of higher education; supporting the transition into (and maintaining) work; and being part of the range of support that can be offered to people who from have a lifelong condition or experience episodic poor mental health. It has been developed with extensive input from end users, and 77% of those using it report a “very positive” impact on their lives. -
