Built and led a 70+ remote engineering organization responsible for one of the largest websites in the world. Key leader on company strategy, culture, and product development as well as building and running the engineering org. Recruited, led, and coached a diverse team from all over the world. Lived and breathed our company culture of servant leadership, openness, transparency, trust and autonomy.+ Shipped new Stack Overflow for Teams SaaS product and grew revenue to 8-figure ARR in 3 years.+ Built and lead Product Engineering (across 4 products), Infrastructure, IT, Data Science, and Information Security, as well as leading Design and User Research for several years.+ Responsible for all of infrastructure in a hybrid colo & Azure cloud environment. Mixed Windows/Linux environment with our primarily application based on C# / ASP.NET MVC and MSSQL on Windows, but with heavy use of Redis, Elasticsearch, HAProxy and more running on CentOS.+ Built out SOC 2 program to support growing Teams SaaS business, and successfully completed SOC 2 Type 1 and started SOC 2 Type 2 audit period before I left.- Lead a remote team distributed across our offices in NY, London, and Munich as well as team members working from home all over the world.+ In 2019, took on a temporary role as President & CTO to lead the company through a successful CEO transition (see https://stackoverflow.blog/2019/01/18/state-of-the-stack-2019-a-year-in-review/).

Responsible for all of engineering and design in a rapidly growing company. Grew the team from <15 to 60+, and scaled the Stack Overflow infrastructure to handle more than 800 million pageviews per month. Built out engineering management as a practice and set a culture of servant leadership, where managers are responsible for coaching and developing their teams, not just giving orders.In 2016, I worked with our head of product to redefine our product development process to emphasize iterative discovery, testing, and user research, which transformed how we developed products and directly lead to the success of our pivot to Stack Overflow for Teams.

Built out a team of ~8 responsible for revenue products (Talent and Ads) and growth initiatives. In the early days of the company, I wore a lot of hats: tech lead, dev, recruiter, product manager, designer. Shipped a complete revamp of our Talent product which integrated our job board and resume search features. Lead development for the new Stack Exchange community creation process (Area 51) which led to the successful launch of dozens of new communities.
