Canon Getreu began his career in the priesthood in 1994. He was ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest and served two large parishes before studying for the Canon Law degree at The Catholic University of America. He was received as an Episcopal priest in September 2012 in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. He received a call to serve St. Philip's Episcopal Church in July 2014. Fr. Dave was installed as the Rector on October 26, 2016. He received his Crossfit Level 1 Training designation and coaches at Crossfit Hammerhead. In April 2020, he joined the Bishop's Staff as Associate for Financial Management and Oversight for the Diocese of Southern Ohio. On January 1, 2022, he was appointed as Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chillicothe while remaining in his other two positions. On June 1, 2022, he was appointed as the Canon for Finance and Budget of the Diocese of Southern Ohio. On December 1, 2022, he was appointed Rector of St. John's Church, Lancaster and St. Paul's Church, Logan. He is the Rector of four churches.Canon Getreu began a career in the financial services industry in 2004. He retired December 31, 2016. He graduated from The Pontifical College Josephinum with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Philosophy. He has a Master’s Degree in Theology and post-graduate work in Canon Law from The Catholic University of America. Rev. Getreu holds a Certificate in Anglican Studies from Bexley Hall. He also holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) designation.Canon Getreu resides in Circleville, Ohio with his wife, Paula and their cat. He is the past Chair of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Circleville. He served on the Board of Hospice of Central Ohio. He served as Chair of the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio. He is a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Granville. He is a past board member of the Robbins Hunter Museum and Mental Health America of Licking County. He is a Past President of The Granville Kiwanis Foundation and the Kiwanis Club of Granville. He served as the Chair of the board of the Granville Area Chamber of Commerce.Crossfit Level 1 licensed. FINRA Licenses: Series 7, Series 31, Series 63, Series 65. He also holds a Life, Health and Annuities License with the State of Ohio.
