Set up the Middle East operations for Robeco from regional office Bahrain. The mandate was to cover the GCC countries and Pakistan, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt for company's institutional investment products. These comprised all long only asset classes (fixed income, equities, cash management etc.) as well as alternative investments including hedge funds, managed futures programmes and structured treasury products. Particular emphasis was placed on private equity and emerging market products.In addition to Robeco itself, other companies in the group include Boston Partners, Weiss Peck and Greer and Harbor Investment Company in the US and Transtrend (a managed futures company) in Netherlands.Close links developed with all levels of management at the sovereign wealth funds, social security funds, pension funds, banks and multilateral agencies. A number of training programmes were given to senior and middle level management at central banks and sovereign wealth funds. Topics covered included fixed income management techniques, modern portfolio theory including portfolio optimization, risk analysis and alternative investments.

Responsible for building three divisions of the bank (i) Institutional Fund Management and Private Banking (ii) Investment Banking/Corporate Finance and (iii) Brokerage/Share Trading. The scope of the geographical coverage included all provinces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia including Nejd, Hijaz, Asir, Al Hasa, Qasim, Hail and Jauf.Al Rajhi Bank is the largest Islamic Bank in the world - headquartered in Riyadh - with the most extensive branch network in Saudi Arabia
