Austin State University in Texas. Smith worked offshore in the oil and gas industry to get himself through school, and upon graduation, he served as a chemist in the semiconductor chemical industry.Smith has served on several boards and committees with organizations such as ISPE, NC Biotech Center, PDA, NC Bio and others.
