He is a Champion for CLG's Our Place & Community Economic Development programmes.David has worked in rural development for over 30 years and now runs YorPlan, a company specialising in community-led regeneration in rural communities and small towns.Formerly an Associate Director with ECOTEC who he joined in 2006 from the Commission for Rural Communities where he was the Regional Affairs Manager for the North of England. Before working for the Commission, David led the Market Town Regeneration team in Yorkshire and Humber for the Countryside Agency for five years. During that time he developed expertise in rural programmes and policy areas, including Rural Proofing and Green Infrastructure.During his time with the Agency, David also spent two years lecturing part time in Rural & Countryside Planning at the University of Bradford, as well as spending time working in the USA.David’s early career after University was spent with the Rural Development Commission, initially in London and later in Yorkshire and East Anglia, where he undertook a variety of posts concerning service delivery and business / economic development in rural and coalfield areas. During this time he also gained a Masters degree in Rural Affairs.He is additionally CEO of a local social enterprise, Tadcaster & Rural CIC Ltd where, amongst other things, he manages The Barn - a multi functional community centre in Tadcaster (www.tadcasterbarn.co.uk).
