Physical Scientist (Information)
CurrentEngage in various activities and special projects relating to the general topics of information architecture and design, information discovery and delivery, and general knowledge management. These include strategic planning, policy development, website and application design and usability evaluation, database design, systems modeling, and technology assessment (with special emphasis on the application of social collaboration tools to support virtual research communities).Take an active role in several USGS, inter-agency, and other external communities and teams including most recently those of USGS Community for Data Integration (CDI). As a member of CDI Data Management, Semantic Web, and Citizen Science Working Groups, the USGS Thesaurus Team, the Geological Society of America’s Geoinformatics Division, and as a participant in the National Geoinformatics Community, I contribute to the delineation and creation of a framework of best practices, tools, services, and repositories for managing and making available data, information, and knowledge resources for the Earth System Science community.
