The Company was founded in 2001 and based at the DCU Invent Centre at Dublin City University. The company was backed by a number of private investors and DCU College. David was the financial accountant of the Company from 2002 to 2004 when the Company was acquired by Anam.

Cylon Controls was the largest privately owned manufacturer of BMS systems in Europe. Cylon provides building energy management systems across all categories of buildings maximizing comfort and efficiency. Cylon's building energy management solutions have been installed in Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. From large and small commercial offices, retail centers, schools and colleges, industrial buildings, health and leisure centres, hospitals, and hotels. Reporting to the Finance Director, David was responsible for financial reports, cash flow, audit and tax compliance, AR, AP, for two trading companies in Ireland and the UK.

During this period CityJet was operated under a strategic partnership (franchise agreement) with Virgin Atlantic; it restructured/rebranded, expanded its fleet, and secured new investment while developing codeshare services with Air France. During this period Cityjet was placed into examinership and was successfully restructured. David worked closely with the Finance Director, and banks during the course of the examinership, to ensure tight cash control as reported to the CFO/CEO. After the examinership, Malmo Aviation acquired a shareholding in the company along with Standard Life and Paul Coulson's Yeoman International. David was responsible for AR including invoicing of wet-lease agreements and aircraft chartering agreement with travel agents and other airlines, flight yield information, ancillary revenues (duty free and cargo), aircraft fuel reconciliations and flight crew payments and compensation.

Ground Operations & Revenue Accounts.David worked under ground operations mgt, while later moving to Revenue Accounts in Ryanair Head Office. In this phase, the Company under the leadership of Michael O'Leary rolled out the low-cost model, tight cost control, with a focus on quick turn around times for aircraft utilization and acceleration on revenues, prior to the Company’s IPO.
