Paralegal Specialist
CurrentAssisting attorneys in preparation for disposition determinations under 37 CFR 11.22(h) by fact checking citationsto the record and by performing extensive and thorough research into legal decisions, opinions and legislativehistory in the highly specialized and substantive areas of intellectual property law and ethics.Researching databases to include Westlaw, PACER, Patent Application Locating and Monitoring (PALM),Trademark Image Capture and Retrieval System (TICRS), and other USPTO's electronic databases.Reviewing and evaluating documents and requests from court and related administrative entities {Federal andState law enforcement agencies, State Bars, and other parties) pertaining to matters arising under 37 CFR § §11.24, 11.25, and 11.29 and for OED information under the Freedom of Information Act and the Privacy Act forsensitive information in the possession of OED or USPTO regarding attorneys and registered patent agent.Proofreading and editing OED papers to ensure proper form, continuity of text and effectiveness of positions ofthe attorneys, and accurate code and case law citations.Maintaining an action monitoring system for all pending disciplinary investigations and actions to schedule OEDaction and ensure deadlines are met.Assembling and preparing statistics on all pending disciplinary and enrollment act ions and investigations forinclusion with reports to the Director.Entering and ensuring accuracy of information added to the Office of Enrollment and Discipline InformationSystem (OEDIS).
