Responsible for regulatory compliance and developmental oversight of County's largest privately owned & operated landfill (18 million ton disposal capacity). Analyze preliminary data, documentation, and applications for solid waste facilities seeking an Illinois EPA permit including the County's largest landfill (currently pursuing a 15 M ton expansion). Investigate environmental related complaints regarding industrial, commercial, and residential sites. Compose thorough and highly detailed inspection reports including narrative, photographs, aerial photo sketch, Illinois EPA checklist, and supporting documents. Collaborate with Illinois EPA staff regarding enforcement and legal referrals. Work in conjunction with the County State's Attorneys Office and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General to pursue legal action for environmental enforcement cases. Manage one of the largest county operated household hazardous waste programs within Illinois. Oversee the collection, packaging, and proper disposal and recycling of hazardous waste. Continue to maintain a violation and incident free hazardous waste program (2000 to present). Review and verify accurate invoicing of hazardous waste disposal by vendor. Train/ mentor new employees. Ensure maintenance scheduling of County vehicle fleet utilized by Division employees.
