Why am listing Jiu-Jitsu as one of my jobs? Because it literally saved my life. I am a below the knee amputee. After the amputation, I ballooned to over 300 pounds and became physically and mentally miserable. There were many times I thought about giving up. I see it among amputees now – it is tremendously hard and difficult to lose a major part of your body and your mobility. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu reversed my life for the better. I lost weight, became more physically fit, and more centered mentally. People today have no idea that I have a prosthetic leg when I walk.I learned how to turn my disadvantages into advantages. This allowed me to complete in several local tournaments, regional tournaments, and even the world championship in BJJ in 2015 and 2016. It has made me a stronger and more confident overall.I bring this confidence, ability to adapt, and the strength to get things done no matter the obstacle into my professional life.

Provide servant leadership and mentorship to a department of up to 15 program and project managers – both FTE and contractors – that provided delivery management for strategic and operational efforts – including new online products and infrastructure.

Created and people managed a team of four infrastructure project managers that took responsibility for delivery efforts within the infrastructure, internal computing, and data centers departments.

Managed projects and programs for infrastructure. These projects consisted of working with the technical and business teams to create project charters, define objectives, plan milestones and tasks, and then execute to completion. These projects included OS (SUSE / Red Hat / Solaris), database (Oracle / MS SQL), server (Linux / Sun) upgrades and migrations.

Technical project manager working with infrastructure and application development projects. Infrastructure projects included MS SharePoint implementation, mobile device security, and ITIL based change / release management. Application development projects included a training event registration application and basic communication tracking application.

Built, trained, and managed a system administration team to support the Netscape Internet Service using open sourced an operating system, applications, and tools; these include Red Hat Linux, Apache, Jakarta Tomcat, MySQL, FreeRadius, etc. Managed and provided leadership, training, and priorities to a consulting team responsible for troubleshooting and fixing service quality bugs. The team closed over two hundred bugs in four months.Developed and refined the client configuration management process for the Netscape ISP client. Developed and refined Configuration Management and Release Management process / documentation in alignment with the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) certification.Created and prepared detailed production deployment / release plans for program launches into production that reduce impact and downtime to members. Designed and implemented a multiple layer test environment that simulated production for the Quality Engineering team.

Planned, organized, and completed major application releases / deployments across up to 12 call centers and over 10,000 consultants with minimal impact to productivity. Created and documented procedures to include quality assurance, site, and pilot testing of applications.Managed desktop configurations for call centers with emphasis on security and productivity of workstations. Centralized desktop image and deployments that greatly reduced impact producing deployments due to site level environmental differences.Technical owner Member Services tools reviewing existing tools to improve reliability, usability, and ensuring that each produced a return on investment. Reviewed vender contracts and service level agreements. Created vender scorecards to ensure vender and application reliability.

• Lead for a system administrator team implementing web-based applications that used web, application, directory, and database servers. Managed both the production and QA environments for Member Services and broadband systems sustaining 99.9% availability.• Ensured proper fault tolerance procedures and monitoring of applications by using Perl & shell scripts, layer 4 & 7 network switches, and internal fail-over systems native to type of server. • Acted as the release / install manager getting projects moved through QE into Production.

• Monitored and maintained the CompuServe production servers and network – including NT, Solaris, DEC Unix, and 36 bit systems.• Supervised a team of system administrators and network analysts to accomplish the above.• Corrected minor and major problems that display on monitoring tools.• Coordinated with developers and engineers to insure major and critical system problems resolved quickly with minimal outage.• Created tools and utilities to maintain the servers, shortening time that it takes to do daily tasks and troubleshooting – including an Intranet site that provides information and forms concerning the production network to developers and engineers.

• Wrote support documentation for CompuServe Forums and CB (Chat) systems that allowed Network Operations to become the first line support of the applications.• Maintained the forum application on over 200 Windows NT servers that serviced 1300 CompuServe forums – which, when broken down into individual sections, were larger than the Usenet. Servers included web and Host Micro Interface (HMI) front ends, application servers, database servers, and chat servers. • Maintained CompuServe CB (Chat) system that was based on DEC Unix systems. • Created special Forum and Chat Internet applications to extend forum functionality for special occasions – including a Roger Ebert Live at the Oscars page.• Trained over 200 information providers and employees in administration and software tools.• Converted forums from 36 bit propriety mainframe systems to Windows NT based systems.
