Director Of Product Management

I was hired at the beginning of the pandemic to develop and manage digital health products across Amgen’s cardiovascular and metabolic asset pipeline. Given this unique role, I was able to work with teams in early development, development, commercial, medical affairs, patient support programs and more. The role has now changed to be more focused on cross-therapeutic solutions but the mission is the same: build 0 to 1 products that help patients, providers and our business win. Over the last 2+ years:- I helped manage a decentralized clinical trials using wearables to understand the impact of wearables on heart failure patients. - Launched an app called MyHeartPath in Canada and then in 3 other countries (i.e. Switzerland, Spain and Mexico)- Launched a mobile video game for cardiologists - Designed a digital health strategy for a heart failure asset (now discontinued) - Designed a strategy and roadmap for a digital therapeutic for heart failure - Launched an Alexa skill for Repatha Today, I lead our digital care pathway product area and working across medical, legal, regulatory and compliance. We are currently undergoing user research and determining problem-solution fit to be able to design/build an MVP to test our hypothesis that automating care pathways in fact does reduce friction for patients and providers. On top of my product management role, I’ve advised various teams across Amgen on how to standardize, automate and digitize certain processes (i.e. data ingestion and patient recruitment) that would help scale our clinical trial efforts. I’ve even lead our division’s overall vision and strategy so that each functional unit aligns towards a north-star metric that serves Amgen’s broader mission of serving patients. No matter the challenge, I like to simplify the problem and help work with cross functional teams to build impactful products for users.

Overlap is a remote patient monitoring platform born out of the open data standard, Open mHealth. I co-founded the company with the architect from Open mHealth and hired and managed a team of software engineers and designers to build an end-to-end remote patient monitoring system. I not only lead sales, operations and business development but also product management. We built a clinician facing frontend that was embeddable in an EHR and a patient facing mobile application. We've had over 20,000 patients and hundreds of providers use our platform to manage mental health, diabetes, hypertension and more. Founding and building Overlap was rewarding. We got to embed our software in places like Kaiser Permanente, the Department of Veteran Affairs, UCSF and more. We built the business to over $2M in revenue over a few year period without venture funding.

Bent Basket

I love industrial design as well as building businesses. My dear friend and award winning industrial designer, Faris Elmasu, prototyped a beautiful bicycle basket and was sitting on hundreds of email addresses wanting it. I thought I could help. And that I did. We developed a Kickstarter campaign and actually got $10k committed. Our goal amount was too high and the project didn't execute. That didn't stop me. I built a pre-order campaign on Shopify and did it again and got $10k in pre-orders at $100 per bike basket to be able to build and ship our first batch of products from China. We went on to generate almost $100k in revenue as a pure side project. I learned how to work with design manufacturers overseas, ship a product, store the product, build out an e-commerce store and logistics systems, marketing and even had B2B customers around the world like Linus, Tokyo Bikes and Public.
