Responsibilities include technical design, construction, personnel (20 FIFO crew members + 7 subcontractors), contracting, scheduling, logistics, reporting and HSE compliance. DWP offers some unique benefits including:○ Ability to directionally steer the drillhead to purposely intersect target (permeable) hydrogeological zones thus enhancing hydraulic contact resulting in increased well yield (a significant hydrogeological advantage over conventional dewatering approaches);○ Reduction of interference to the mining operation (elimination of in-pit operations, access corridors, power supply & water pipelines), reduction of in-pit HSE risk to workers (no in-pit work required) and improvement of mine pit traffic movement due to removal of conventional dewatering infrastructure (thus an increase in mining efficiency); and,○ Improved run time (typically >95%) of the electronic submersible pump coupled with higher yield (up to 300 L/s) resulting in a more efficient mine dewatering operation (versus conventional vertical in-pit wells that are typically have lower yield and are frequently blasted, cut or lost).
