Responsibilities: Modeling and measurement-based assessments of air pollution concentrations, exposures, and health impacts on a source-specific, community, city, county, or regional scale. Inventories of air pollution emissions to support modeling based assessments. Modeling and database systems to support exposure assessments and emission inventory reporting. Development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the division. Development and communication of technical and policy issues and recommendations to the District Board and executive management. Representation of the District with industry, the public, and other agencies on air quality engineering and related matters. Tracking, review and analysis of current and proposed policies, regulations and legislation.

Greater Pittsburgh Area

Initiated a pilot study using low-cost particulate monitors to empower families with asthmatic children in Pittsburgh. Planned and implemented a complete rewrite of Gigapan.org, a panorama-sharing website serving terabytes of imagery and thousands of users. Led team of four junior and senior programmers to seamlessly transition architectures. Facilitated community workshops, conducted fieldwork, coauthored scholarly publications, and assisted in the production of a citywide multi-million-dollar robotics education festival.

Greater Pittsburgh Area

Managed $10–100k internal software engineering research projects. Coauthored publications on the design of peer-to-peer indexing services. Prototyped an indoor location-tracking system using off-the-shelf hardware. Created software tools for scalable, asynchronous import of large GIS datasets. Designed user interfaces and conducted systems integration for Fortune 100 clients, including a $40m artificial intelligence project.

Responsible for technical production of the redesigned Domestic Mail Manual (DMM), the 1600-page core operations and legal standards document for the U.S. Postal Service.
