Working as a full-stack software engineer for Cake Solutions. Primary technology stack in use included Scala, Java, Akka, Play, Postgres, MongoDB, Cassandra, JavaScript and AngularJS. Worked both on and off-site for various clients and liased directly with clients to build and advise on the desired solution.

Unshackled.Com

Developed the Unshackled website and scalable platform using Scala and Akka on the back end with AngularJS on the client. Data persistence was achieved using Akka Persistent Journals connected to a distributed Cassandra database. Integrated with other services to form the platform including CRM, a reporting SQL database, and PIM.

Worked in a small team tasked with taking an existing Cobol based module that calculated train ticket pricing and developing a proof of concept replacement using Scala. This was to illustrate possible timeframes, performance improvements, and more maintainable code that could be achieved for a proposed greater re-implementation for the larger system.

Internal Cake Solutions project to create an application that can run during an event and stream multimedia content to a display based on tagging information. Added storage of and display of various metrics such as tag counts and media types using akka persistent actors on the backend and Play template html files for the client side.

Various projects including developing improvements and updates to a legacy system with a focus on the front end (AngularJS) and the middle tier (NodeJS). Later on working primarily on a new project to deliver an application that performed upload, management, and analysis on video files within a content network. The work for this project was full stack and utilised an AngularJS frontend with a NodeJS middle tier and a Scala backend with MongoDB used for persistence.
