Financial Advisor
New York, Ny, Us
After college, I worked as a financial advisor for one of the largest brokerage houses in the world. Unfortunately, as soon as I started, the financial collapse began and I was laid off. I would wager that I was laid off for three reasons: first - this was the worst financial collapse in recent memory; second, Merrill Lynch was at the forefront of the collapse and went out of business only to be bought-out by Bank of America; and third (this is the most important reason), I was simply not very good! Finance was not my major, nor was it my chosen field. However, the hiring mangers found and recruited me. Apparently they saw some potential in my ability. I saw a large salary, paid vacation and excellent benefits. This position did, however, give me some excellent experience in the business world and allowed me to create a number of lifelong contacts that are still useful today. I am very grateful for the patience of my managers and colleagues. They were willing to put in the time to show me the ropes and teach me how to work in a professional environment.
