• Characterized and refined the use of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived microglia as a successful therapeutic treatment for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) in a mouse model.• Acquired laboratory skills: iPSC culture and differentiation, small animal surgery in a stereotaxic frame, IHC, confocal microscopy, and microbiology techniques such as plasmid transfection, DNA and protein isolation and purification, and SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis.• Characterized the incorporation of integrin α4β7 into newly-formed HIV-1 virions, which impacts viral infectivity and transmission.• Acquired laboratory skills: Western blot, ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry, viral infection assays, and multiple transfection protocols, including lipid-mediated and electroporation.
