About David Iskowich

David Iskowich is a Assistant State's Attorney at Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office at Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. He possess expertise in courts, constitutional law, appeals, criminal law, legal research and 10 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "David was my professor in my first year legal writing course at the Northwestern University School of Law. In this capacity he was charged with instructing us in the art and science of legal writing, the interpretation of case law, and (most importantly) teaching us to distill meaningful facts from complex narratives. Professor Iskowich was exemplary in all of these areas as he blended practical knowledge and advice from his experience in the Illinois Attorney General’s office with a fine understanding of the theories of persuasion and position which comprise legal writing. David was an excellent motivator. He provided us with real life examples of good and bad writing, usually from his own work. This gave us all confidence that we may not get to a perfect answer (even 10 years into our careers), but that we should always be working to improve. David was always prepared for class. He developed excellent presentations which were clear and to the point. This was not something that most professors in the law school did consistently well (they were slightly better at Kellogg). It was something everyone in the class appreciated, especially after a 3 hour torts lecture with infinite digression. David gave excellent feedback. The essays which we sent to him were always returned with a full set of marked comments – fairly balancing praise with recommendations on how to improve. Often, David would re-write sentences, or suggest multiple ways to phrase a sentence so that we could learn by seeing. Most importantly, he didn’t seek to impose his voice through his feedback, but sought to suggest alternatives for expression. David was passionate about teaching and about his students. He always began every meeting with a personal question – how is Con Law going, how are thing at home? It was an appreciated personal touch which demonstrated that he was involved in teaching the whole person, not just trying to “check the box” of meeting with students. He even helped show me how to appeal my property taxes! David was one of the best professors I had during my three years at Northwestern Law and the Kellogg School of Management. He brought an uncommon passion to the job, and a history of excellence in legal work that few could match. I would highly recommend David to any institution as a teacher, and to any potential client as a lawyer."

Listed skills include Courts, Constitutional Law, Appeals, Criminal Law, and 11 others.
