David is the Senior Advisor to the owners of Transfield Holdings and Investment Director at Angophora Capital, the private company of Guido Belgiorno-Nettis. He has been a director of several private and public companies and remains a shadow director of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel Company (Sydney toll road). He has over 50 years experience at the executive level in the private and public sectors. As Principal Engineer (Vehicle Emissions) in the Environment Protection Authority he drafted the vehicle emission standards for Australia. As Director General of Transport (NSW) he had oversight of road, rail, ports and public transport infrastructure and budgets. In 1990 he joined Transfield and filled various positions including CEO Investments, CEO Energy and CEO Corporate Services. He played a leading role in the development of several landmark projects including the Nam Theun 2 hydro scheme in Laos, the Sydney Airport railway and privatised water treatment plants. He also played a key role in the formation of Transfield's services business which became Broadspectrum and now part of Ventia.His formal training includes a degree in Chemical Engineering and a PhD from UNSW. He was awarded a Harkness Fellowship in 1976 and studied at the Sloan School at MIT and worked with the US EPA.His key business interests now center around investing in the health, infrastructure and clean energy sectors. He has a keen interest in environmental and health issues. And he loves to run.
