AcuteTeleCare (ATC) has developed a lightweight iPad based solution to manage patients with acute stroke symptoms who must receive needed care within a small window of opportunity (<3-4.5hrs) by providing a mechanism for trained physicians to consult with Emergency Room physicians independent of geographic location. The current standard of care is to apply a thrombolytic drug, typically tPA, within the restricted window, dramatically increasing the chance for a positive outcome. Today only Joint Commission Certified Centers and other highly specialized hospitals provide care to 10-30% of eligible patients, while rural hospitals can be less than 1 in 500 patients receive tPA. AcuteTeleCare provides a tool that connects doctors in Hub hospitals to their own patients but also ER physicians in partner spoke facilities.
