Cascade HR has recently joined forces with the IRIS SME business to create IRIS Human Capital Management. This is the 4th largest provider of HCM software in the UK, with over 50k customers ranging from the small business to the enterprise space where we compete with Sage and SAP. IRIS HCM has software that serves the HR, Payroll and Book-Keeping markets, taking care of the employee contract all the way through the business.Role OverviewI was responsible for the Product, Development and Quality Assurance teams reporting to the Technical Director. Having recently been acquired by Iris Business Software in 2014 my immediate manager, one of the four founding members of Cascade left the business within 4 months of my arrival. This saw me step into a senior management position. Along with the executive management team, I was responsible for the definition of the business strategy and the delivery of this through the creation and management of the Product and Technical Roadmaps. I was responsible for the creation of a Product Management process where I had to ensure the business had the correct commercial focus, competitor and product awareness to succeed. As part of this role, I took on responsibility for key initiatives within the business, such as the Technical Due Diligence during an acquisition of a software supplier as well as driving the requirements gathering, procurement and technical integration points for new strategic partnering around the HR offering.

The role involved managing a team of 5 product owners, ensuring all teams were following agile best practice and encouraging cross-team learning and continuous improvement. This included coordinating the development roadmaps and capacity for the 5 agile teams both in the UK and offshore in Russia. With overseas visits a regular fixture of the position.The role focused on helping to define the business strategy whilst ensuring that we were implementing change that delivers on this strategy. The role also saw me manage customer paid for changes totalling upwards of half a million pounds per year. This is a true Product Management position where I had to ensure the product backlogs were aligned correctly to deliver on these objectives.

The Live Services Technical Manager at BTL is responsible for the management of the Live Services team. This includes managing all technical aspects of live services, with a focus on proactive day to day maintenance of the servers and reactive problem solving. The Live Services team is made up of third line support staff, .NET developers, technical and performance testers, server administrators and database administrators. With his broad technical knowledge and expert product knowledge Dave is able to provide support and guidance to all areas of the team with a view maintaining the smooth operation of the live service.As the first point of contact for complex incident resolution Dave is well placed to drive both the technical and performance testing activities for the product suite. With this in mind Dave is now responsible for the both technical and performance testing activities.Dave has a BSc in Software Engineering and is both ITIL and ISEB certified.

Primarily working in .NET technologies including Web Services, VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, Ajax and XML. Expert knowldege has also being gained in SQL Server 2005.
