I am passionate about pensions! I believe in the importance of professional investment management to ensure that the average person can have a secure and comfortable retirement. With 17+ years of industry experience: first at Ontario Teachers' and 15 years at CPP Investments, I have developed both a broad and deep knowledge of cross-asset Global Capital Markets, Portfolio Management, Portfolio Construction, Treasury, Liquidity Management & Currency Management.I joined CPPIB when it was essentially a start-up and had the unique entrepreneurial experience of developing new investment strategies and the respective systems from scratch. For example, I helped develop strategies that generated over 40 bps of annual outperformance for CPPIB's equity and fixed income beta portfolios through various low-risk financing strategies. Then, I was involved in funding and liquidity management for CPPIB while minimizing cost to obtain the firm's optimal investment portfolio. Most recently, I was in the fund's Total Fund Management group focused on strategic investment decision making for the overall investment portfolio. In my opinion the most importance resource for a successful investment management firm are the people. I thoroughly enjoy coaching and mentoring colleagues and seeing them grow and thrive professionally, and have been involved in various initiatives to increase the diversity in CPP Investments' hiring.
