From a young age, I have always been fascinated with the apparent magic of electrical systems; I grew up with a screwdriver in one hand and a soldering iron in the other. After disassembling the family television at age 6, much to my parents' dismay, I was given my first Dick Smith Funway into Electronics kit in an attempt to satiate my inquisitive nature. While this was not so successful in preserving the function of the other electronics in the house, it laid the framework for a lifelong passion in technology that I hold dear to this day.I am in my element when creating solutions to the problems encountered when engineering new, innovative and disruptive technologies. I take great satisfaction in watching a hacked-together cacophony of disparate components on the lab bench iterate and refine into a thoughtfully-considered final deliverable. I have an eye for detail and quality in all my work, and an appreciation for the intricacies that make for a truly excellent and robust product that exceeds expectations.I am enthusiastic for the design of analogue, digital and embedded systems. My expertise extends into the fields of audio/visual recording and reproduction tech, loudspeaker design, as well as the instrumentation used in the development and optimisation of these systems. I have experience with electroacoustic simulation and testing, signal processing, and additive/subtractive rapid prototyping, and I maintain excellent laboratory and workshop skills. I am technically proficient with the hand/machine tools and software used in these disciplines, including schematic drafting/PCB layout, and the integration of eCAD (Altium Designer) with mCAD (Solidworks, Fusion 360).In my previous placements, I demonstrated an ability to source specialised parts, debug and bring-up prototypes, and then mature these ideas into production. I worked with external suppliers and build houses to outsource the manufacture of key subassemblies in larger volumes. I was also involved in developing the support systems necessary for these designs to succeed, including the creation of tools, test fixtures, and accompanying scripts to automate calibration and commissioning procedures. I take pride in my ability to modify/repurpose existing parts and tools to achieve wins within constrained budgets.Previously experienced in audio/visual electronics sales, I have strong communication and inter-personal skills. A former employer described me as having a supreme soft sell.As a former cellist, I have a passion for music. In my free time, I enjoy frequenting events in the arts.
