Supported clinical staff post-go live of the Epic System. Worked on enhancement request that came from clinical providers and subject matter experts, prioritizing based on patient needs and best practices. Provided 24/7 on-call coverage for Inpatient and Emergency modules of the Epic System.

Assisted during the implementation of Epic within UHN, gathering information from stakeholders and building the system as per requests. Developed workflow and overall order screens to tailored specifically for different units and areas in the hospital. Certified within the Inpatient Orders Module of the Epic System.

Learned the inner workings of the Health Information System and leveraged clinical experience to identify limitations of the system and improve efficiencies. Implemented the standardized level of care by assisting in building order screens, validating changes, and ensuring front-line clinicians have a clear understanding of the order sets and medical directives. Worked alongside the Orders and Medical Directive (OMD) Committee to discuss and implement clinical decisions that improved the standard of care.

Provided patient care in one of the largest teaching hospitals in the world. During this time, took the opportunity to explore different areas of nursing. Worked on the flooring units: Vascular and Cardiovascular Surgical Units, Cardiovascular Surgery Unit, Cardiology Unit, Gynaecology and Urological Inpatient Unit, ENT/Plastics/Head and Neck Unit, Nephrology Unit, General Surgery Unit, Thoracic Surgery and Respiratory Unit, and General Internal Medicine Units at Toronto General Hospital. Cardiology/General Internal Medicine Unit, Rheumatology/General Internal Medicine Unit, Spinal/Neurosurgery Unit, Neuro-vascular Unit, Stroke/General Internal Medicine Units, Arthritis Program Inpatient Unit, and Combined Surgical Unit at Toronto Western Hospital. In addition to the above units, had specific training for the Psychiatric Ward at Toronto General Hospital as well as the Psychiatric Emergency Service Unit at Toronto Western Hospital. Furthermore, training received to provide care for the oncology and palliative patients at the Princess Margaret Hospital before joining the implementation of the Medication Order Entry/Medication Administration Record at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Maintained the safety of vulnerable patients that needed 1:1 care and reported to the nurse-in-charge any changes to the patient’s status.
