Excite Team GB (formerly known as the Excite Rallye Raid Team) is a professional, ALL-BRITISH off-road and Dakar Rally Team.I have worked on international marketing, PR, sponsorship acquisition and client involvement for this Dakar Rally team, whose team members have included Martin Rowe, John Hardy and Andrew Coley (drivers). The issuance of one press release saw our team website register 26,778 hits on Friday 23rd September, 2011!The team took part in the Silk Way Rally in July 2012.In October 2013, we helped to launch the Bournemouth International Wheels Festival by bringing down our off-road race car for the media launch day on Bournemouth seafront and then running several vehicles at the inaugural edition of the Festival itself in May 2014.Since that time, the team has been building towards events on the British off-road rallying circuit and in its current shape, is running an all-female team with some great results already.Back the Brits!

Nevertheless, there is a lot of competition, so I am working to raise the profile of the area internationally and make sure that it remains the first choice for international students. My job is to help consolidate Bournemouth's position as the premier place for international students to study in the UK. Bournemouth was the venue for the world’s first truly international Wheels Festival in May 2014. Taking place from Saturday 24th – Monday 26th May, 2014, this FREE family festival built on the well-established principles of the Bournemouth Air Festival, to offer a selection of high energy events across the entire town, providing top entertainment for local residents and visitors, and boosting the local economy. This new festival brought together an exciting collection of exhibits and shows including classic cars, hot rods, skateboard and BMX stunt riding, monster truck demonstrations, custom vehicles and motorcycles. This groundbreaking event brought around 400,000 people to the town over the 3 days and was funded through trading stands, sponsorship, support from the local trade, contributions from Bournemouth Council in addition to both the Town Centre and Coastal BIDs. In 2015, the second edition of the festival took the concept a little further, with high-profile partnerships with Jeep, Fiat, Abarth helping to establish the prestige of the event.

As Chair of the IEF, I sat on the Bournemouth Tourism Management Board (BTMB) from April 2011 until May 2014. Now as Vice-Chair of the IEF, I act as deputy to the new IEF Chair on the evolved BTMB, which is now called the Destination Management Board.Established in 2006, the ground-breaking Bournemouth Tourism Management Board (BTMB) was set up to “Develop and assist delivery of a shared vision for a prosperous tourism industry in Bournemouth that will enable the Borough to develop as a market leading resort.”This is the country’s first board that truly represents all sectors of the visitor economy including the often overlooked, but vital, services of transportation, entertainment and retailing.The BTMB has a very different tourism partnering formula that holds the members collectively responsible for the town’s destination management.The Board includes representatives from each of the town's key tourism sectors plus elected and professional officers from BCP Council, Tourism South East, Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership, Visit England and the Chief Executive from BCP Council.Acting as a voice for tourism, the Board benefits the industry and tourism sectors by providing a strong, unified voice for local, regional and national tourism issues that impact business efficiency. In addition, the Board ensures the performance of the resort’s tourism management, marketing and development activity is both competitive and effective. I was happy to have been actively involved in the development of the Bournemouth Literary Festival from its establishment in 2004. With very little external support or sponsorship, we managed to put on an eclectic programme of events each year and brought in a diverse range of renowned writers and celebrities including Howard Jacobson, Nicholas Shakespeare, Theo Paphitis (of Dragons' Den fame), Brian Schofield (Travel Editor for the Sunday Times newspaper), Peter John Cooper, Keith Bennett, John Kay, Mario Reading, Louisa Parker, Sulaiman Addonia, Umon Tachibana, Natasha Farrant, Tobias Ellwood MP, Mitzi Szereto, Tena Stivicic, Guy Browning (Guardian columnist) Cefnfab, etc. The festival went from strength to strength and became a regular feature of Bournemouth's cultural calendar. With its strapline of "A world of words", the festival aimed to bring world literature to Bournemouth and to take Bournemouth to the world. I believe we achieved that.
