In 1979, David G. Jorgensen co-founded Katun Corporation, a supplier of OEM-compatible photoreceptors, imaging supplies, and parts for office equipment. Along with his friend and cofounder, Jorgensen grew Katun Corporation into a $350 million business. When Jorgensen founded Katun, the company had just a few employees and a small warehouse. However, the company quickly expanded. In the early 1980s, David Jorgensen oversaw the relocation of Katun to a larger space, and the number of employees grew to 50. After the acquisition of Bedford International, a copier parts and supply company, in 1983, David Jorgensen helped Katun established its first facilities abroad, in France and England. During the late 1980s, Jorgensen developed key partnerships with Ricoh, Mistshubishi Chemical, Stanley Electric, & Gestetner and many other world-class manufacturers based on relationships that he had developed previously as the CEO of Dataquest, Inc. In the early 1990s, David Jorgensen’s company opened a subsidiary called Minco Manufacturing, LLC, in Colorado and a new European Distribution Center in Gorinchem, the Netherlands. Jorgensen continued to oversee Katun as the company opened a North American Distribution Center in Davenport, Iowa, and expanded its European interests. In the late 1990s, Katun completed its Research and Development Annex, which provided better product-development and testing facilities. David Jorgensen also led Katun as it acquired the high-speed printer parts company D&R Products and EBS, a well-known fax products provider. He remained with Katun Corporation and led the sale of the firm to private equity groups in 2002. David Jorgensen holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Stanford University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.
