Demonstrating laboratory classes for 3rd year inorganic and materials chemistry subjects and tutoring 1st year biomedical (introduction to chemistry) and 2nd year inorganic chemistry classes.

In addition to demonstrating 2nd and 3rd year inorganic undergraduate laboratory classes, I have been generating online teaching materials, specifically single-crystal X-ray crystal structure images for a research group at The University of Melbourne.

Post-doctoral Fellow with Prof. Cameron J. Kepert and Dr. Deanna D’Alessandro, School of Chemistry, University of Sydney.I was chief crystallographer for the research group interested in coordination-based functional materials for gas storage, spin-crossover (SCO) and negative thermal expansion (NTE).My duties also included training students and other staff in single-crystal X-ray crystallography.I provided advice in general research direction and troubleshooting with general chemistry (synthetic inorganic and organic and analytical) laboratory techniques, and IT issues with MS Windows and Linux systems for students and fellow staff.I obtained years of experience on the single-crystal X-ray diffraction beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron, refereed several beamtime proposals.For the duration of my time at Sydney my research included SCO materials, particularly the influence of guest inclusion.I utilised the following various techniques apart from those listed above: magnetochemistry (PPMS, “SQUID” MPMS, LIESST measurement equipment – CNRS Bordeaux), gas and vapour sorption (TGA, IGA etc).

Post-doctoral work with Prof. Richard Robson and Dr. Brendan Abrahams, School of Chemistry, University of Melbourne.My research aimed to design and produce functional materials, in particular, porous solids for potential application as gas sorption materials. The work focused on extended network organoborates, which lead to the discovery of molecular squares that pack to reveal nanotubes.Key achievements:Familiarity with Solvothermal synthesis in Parr bombs and mastery of self-made Carius tubes.Development of co-supervision role of honours and PhD students.Two publications, one of which was a “hot article” in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and was featured in Chemistry in Australia Highlights.
