I began my career in 1984 at Albert E Sharp, graduating from Leicester University, gaining a degree in Science and Economics. I hold a Chartered Wealth Manager qualification and I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (FCSI). In 1986 I attained membership of the Stock Exchange before moving to join Quilter in 1999, prior to the formation of Quilter Cheviot more recently. Over my years at Quilter Cheviot, I have moved up the management ladder and in 2017 I was privileged to become Head of the Birmingham Office, which is the largest Office outside our Head Office in London. I lead a team of highly skilled and experienced investment managers; however, my primary role is protecting wealth for clients and growing their assets. This work often involves a 3 or 4 way partnership with an Independent Financial Adviser and possibly an Accountant or Solicitor. In all scenarios, personal service and attention to detail are paramount.Here, in Birmingham the portfolios we manage vary in style from on-shore Discretionary accounts incorporating ISAs, to off-shore Bonds; Pension Funds (both SIPP & SSAS); Trusts and Charities. Being independent in our research allows me to consider most asset classes in the management of Client portfolios, based very much around “risk” and “suitability”. Typical asset classes include: Fixed Interest; UK and International Equities; Hedge Funds; Property Funds and Commodity Funds. The vast majority of my work is conducted under a “Discretionary” mandate although specialist mandates can be accommodated where necessary.Regular contact with Clients is an important part of our personal service. Over the years, I have formed long-term relationships with my Clients, that in many cases has descended down through the generations. These relationships, built on trust, help clients to realise their investment aspirations and achieve long-term financial peace of mind for them and their family.I have been with Quilter Cheviot for twenty one years and I have worked with large financial organisations in a career spanning thirty seven years.
