Served as a key member of the ATI delivery team, supporting USAID’s Africa Bureau's ATI program in boosting trade and investment across the continent of Africa, with a particular focus on East Africa. Primarily responsible for client management, oversight of buy-in design and implementation process, and strong delivery on expected outputs, outcomes, and overall development impact. Role included, but not limited to: •Manage client relationships with USAID missions, regional economic bodies, and other key stakeholders East Africa to develop and oversee the implementation of buy-in activities.•Serve as management lead to support ATI buy-in implementation from the development of buy-in scopes of work (SOWs), to activity design, and implementation. This will involve close collaboration with ATI functional teams (i.e., grants, procurement, MEL, communications, finance/operations, systems & quality) and budget-related negotiations with current and potential buy-in clients.•Work closely with USAID missions and grants/partnerships team to engage a broad spectrum of private sector actors to expand programmatic interventions. Where promising interventions are identified, support ATI Leadership to replicate impact through new partnerships and engagements both regionally and continentally.•Support procurement and technical teams on final subcontractor SOWs and deliverable schedules, utilizing standard deliverable metrics, pay-for-performance, and catalytic funding contractual frameworks and support deliverables review in the East Africa Portfolio.•Lead strategic analysis and early identification of trade and investment opportunities and develop high-impact partnerships with businesses and institutions to identify/overcome key business environment constraints hindering trade and growth.•Ensure that the entire regional team is focused on tangible development impact and client satisfaction.

I coordinated the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in the USAID West Africa region. This includes 9 countries in West Africa: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Togo. The US government launched YALI in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa. YALI is a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders.I served as the AOR - Agreement Officers Representative.

I worked collaboratively with the YALI Regional Leadership Centers' Chiefs of Party and USAID to prepare the YALI Africa Long Term Sustainability strategy that included the 3 pillars of sustainability:1. Establish YALI Africa2. Sustained operational excellence of the four YALI Regional Leadership Centers3. Sustained post-program impact as demonstrated in the lives & leadership of the YALI Africa Alumni

My role involved: • Providing overall strategic leadership and oversight for the effective running and promotion of the YALI RLC EA and its programs. This involves providing oversight of all the key Center functions: admissions, curriculum, alumni engagement, partnerships, M & E and all other Center operations.• Ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Center through overseeing resource mobilization and potential revenue generation• Key stakeholder management including USAID and other donors, private sector organizations and the government. • Ensuring high quality leadership development, instruction, and guidance in a safe and engaging learning environment through a broad network of public and private partners. • Serving as spokesperson and key liaison for the Center with external audiences such as the media and work to position the Center as a thought leader in the space of Youth Development. • Championing and driving collaboration across the four Regional Leadership Centers to create a unified YALI initiative dubbed YALI Africa to ensure continent-wide sustainability.• Coordinating all aspects of impact measurement, reporting, strategic planning and other project management responsibilities.• Ensuring compliance with regulatory and partner regulations. • Overall oversight to ensure the Center achieves its objectives as per the Cooperative Agreement.

This was an additional role to my primary role of Learning/Curriculum Director. I was responsible for: • Acting as Chief of Party when necessary while having the full force of decision-making and authority. Representing the COP at meetings, functions and events as requested/necessary.• Overseeing project operations.• Along with the COP, interacting with the client on various levels of programs and operations, ensuring that the client is provided the highest level of service.• Working with the COP to ensure timely implementation of all activities in accordance with the highest quality standards.• Designing and leading the year’s strategic planning session and take a leadership role in designing the Implementation Plan for the upcoming year.• Liaising with my counterparts at the other RLCs, ensuring knowledge transfer, which will assist the overall program.• Working with the COP and appropriate team members to lay the groundwork for the Center’s sustainability after the cooperative agreement period.• Mentoring and provide guidance to team members in various operational and programmatic areas.

During my time as Learning/Curriculum Director, I was responsible for:• Designing and developing the entire learning experience for the participants in collaboration with USAID, various international and local universities and other stakeholders.• Leading the development and evaluation of new curriculum including tools and measures for impact assessment• Ensuring the curriculum remained relevant to the participants’ ever evolving needs.• Ensuring the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.• Coordinating the review/assessment of current curriculum to ensure that course/program was meeting intended objectives and requirements.• Obtaining and using evaluative findings (including participant achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness, recommending how to improve curricula• Identifying and leading a team of international, regional and local instructors who assisted in curriculum development.• Identifying guest speakers and trainers on various topics• Providing coaching and effective staff development activities that incorporated the mission of the RLC, program evaluation outcomes, and input from facilitators and others.• Compiling and managing budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.• Collaborating with the other Regional Leadership Centers in sharing best practice from the East Africa Center in a bid to enable them improve their specific program.
