Dr. Keene has worked as an archaeological consultant since 1980 and founded Archaeological Research Incorporated (ARI) in 1991. He has managed a staff of archaeologists conducting Historic Preservation Planning and Section 106 archaeological and historic investigations throughout the States of Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma. He is responsible for planning and executing archaeological projects and historic surveys, nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, and HABS/HAER Documentation Projects. He is also responsible for all corporate operations at ARI. In addition to experience in the private sector Dr. Keene was President and CEO of the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois, a not for profit 501C3 corporation based in Chicago, for 2 years. He has extensive experience in budgeting, proposal writing, project and personnel management, corporate marketing and sales, and fund raising. He works closely with the Cook County Sheriff’s Detectives and assists them in criminal cases. Early in his career he taught in a Catholic High School and was an instructor at Loyola University of Chicago. Dr. Keene lives on the Lincoln Park neighborhood with his wife Erin and serves the Archdiocese of Chicago as an Ordained Permanent Deacon at Holy Family Parish on Roosevelt Road.
