David joined the staff at Smiths Station Baptist Church in 2012. He is passionate about developing strong leaders in the church and He is focused on helping others to see the simplicity of the Gospel and the power of an intimate relationship with a loving God. David is also an avid college football fan, enjoys going to the beach, and just loves hanging out with his family at home. David is a graduate of Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science, Samford University with a Master of Divinity, and Columbia Evangelical Seminary with a Doctor of Theology. He has served churches in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Alabama.

I am the spiritual leader of the church responsible for the general welfare and growth of the congregation. I conduct weekly worship services, moderate business meetings, administer ordinances for the church and serve on all church committees. In addition, I am responsible for the visitation of members and the un-churched in our community. Also, I make myself available for counseling and keep regular office hours at the church.

Responsibilities included overseeing and implementing all administrative and teaching ministries of the First Baptist Church that included training teachers and conducting meetings with all personnel, trained volunteers and workers. I oversaw all of the ministries at the First Baptist Church. I regularly visited the prospects and members. Also, I routinely went to the hospitals and visited the shut-ins once a week. In addition, I conducted baptisms, weddings and funerals. And finally, I regularly filled the pulpit on Sunday nights and in the pastor’s absence.

Responsibilities included direction and planning of all youth & recreation activities during the year and the coordination of committee and leadership meetings in each area. I oversaw the budget and finance in the student & recreation ministry areas of our church, and planned and directed the orientation and development of new students joining First Baptist Church. I also served on the ministry team that planned, organized, and implemented VBS each year.
