I set up my own building services business in 2009 and have worked on a wider range of projects from painting and minor remodelling to larger extensions and the extensive renovation of a 160 year old house.

In 2007 and 2008 we developed a scheme of 8 houses in Renmore, Galway city. I was involved with all aspects of planning and design of the houses on a confined infill site in a built up suburb. Gained experience in negotiating with financial institutions, local authorities and other concerned parties. Responsible for recruiting and organising all sub-contractors during the various stages of this development which achieved a B energy rating when completed. I have worked in the family business throughout my career. In 2005 and 2006 I was Site Managing the construction of individual houses for the build to sell market. Responsibilities included managing of all contractors, coordination of deliveries, managing timelines, delivering professional and efficient customer service at all times, adhering to correct working procedures and health & safety. Prior to this, over a 10 year period, I also worked on a number of projects such as a secondary school, a social housing scheme, a Leisure complex and the Galway Crystal visitor centre.

I was employed to survey various sites and install the doors and systems. Based primarily in Dublin, working for a busy company involved in the design, fabrication and installation of steel doors and frames, steel glazing systems and various other opening systems for the commercial and industrial sector.

Installing clean rooms in the pharmaceutical industry for clients such as Abbott and Boston Scientific. I was involved in designing and fitting air conditioning systems, suspended ceilings and industrial standard floors.

Whilst at Qualtec I worked on the line, building cable boxes for machinery and electrical equipment. I also worked in the logistical section of the company ensuring products were packaged and placed safely for shipment.
