As Director of Legal, Compliance & Risk Management, I, along with my legal and compliance team, handle the day-to-day legal affairs and compliance requirements for Sunstates Security. In my role, I draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, professional service providers, and other vendors to ensure that those agreements meet the Company's objectives. Furthermore, I manage the Company's workers' compensation and risk management functions, including but not limited to: data privacy, HIPAA, OSHA, EEO claims, employee complaints, employee benefits, certificates of insurance, and management of the legal and compliance department. I advise the Executive team and Regional Management on legal issues, pandemic/business continuity planning. employee relations, ERISA, Non-Compete Agreements, compliance, operations, data security, safety, and risk avoidance for the Company. Additionally, I perform general corporate legal requirements and pre-litigation work to minimize risks and legal fees. I oversee all workers' compensation insurance claims, counsel on Human Resources complaints, and, as necessary, manage the processes with outside counsel, insurance, and other corporate matters. I monitor state laws, regulatory changes, and licensing that affect the Company on a day-to-day basis. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I served as Leader of the Pandemic Planning Team and offer guidance on implementing the Pandemic Event Plan document that I drafted for the organization. Finally, I sit on the board for the Benefits Committee as a fiduciary for the Company's 401K and Health and Welfare offerings.
