If you had asked me as a child what I would become when I grew up, you would have heard a slew of responses from: an Astronaut, Firefighter, or even a CIA Special Agent.I would have never imagined - the ability to clearly see through the rush of adrenaline for critical life-saving choices - applied so aptly to business. True, I’m not kicking in doors anymore saving people at gunpoint, or jumping off cliffs instructing kids high-angle rescue missions. Yet the intangible skills that business takes to run smoothly, including Marketing, Business Development, Project Management, Operations and Sales often times feels like rushing head-strong into a dangerous crisis. Whether it’s advising a business on better sales revenue streams, or analyzing contracts for profitable wins, running a business takes many of the same emergency skills learned in my younger days. Achieving high profitable wins while building teams firing on all cylinders is just as satisfying as the adrenaline rush. Sometimes, even more so.Call it big picture leadership, or a strategic conceptualization or vision, guiding a fragmented team to the betterment of the whole, is satisfaction well earned.
