Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, I investigate the role of the gut microbiome in behavior and disease relating to drug addiction, brain injury, and veteran health. In human and animal research settings, utilized sterile technique, manual DNA/RNA extraction, robotic DNA extraction, 16S rRNA gene sequencing library preparation, qPCR, DNA quantification, and sterile sample processing to procure data and assist on the development of manuscripts. Trained lab members, volunteered to be on-call nights and weekends, presented at journal club meetings, and managed lab inventory in a multicultural collaborative environment.
