Chris Fox and I created the first available Network Based Building Access Control System with distributed ethernet controllers giving each door it's own IP address and web server in 1998. Web based access to the central server and support for multiple operating systems. Designed IP based door access control hardware with Chris Fox. I developed the server and client software in Java that supported all standard SQL databases until the company grew and we hired developers. I then switched to managing the company until purchased by Interwest and Sevin Rosen Funds in 2003.

WheelGroup was a leading founder in the "intrusion detection" market, providing software that detects unauthorized efforts to break into corporate networks. Responsible for the design and development of Rule Definition Language and Java Management Applications to remotely configure and manage the NetRanger Embedded Security Device and Network Security Group BorderGuard/Passport Security Routers. Developed encrypted communication channel to communicate with devices. NetRanger is an enterprise-scale network intrusion detection software product. WheelGroup was purchased for $125MM by Cisco Systems, Inc. which currently sells the NetRanger Security Devices under the Cisco Secure IDS name.Resigned employment due to potential conflict with position as the Managing Partner of the ACC Management Venture Capital group during the Cisco Systems acquisition.

Project Manager responsible for Server and Archive products in PACSPro II Server system.This software enabled hospital radiologists to store, access, interpret, report and distribute image data in a film less environment. The PACSPro II Server and PACSPro II Archive provided a system strategy toward a fully digital hospital environment. The PACSPro II Archive is a management software tied to an optical jukebox for long term storage of radiological digital images.Tasks included: The complete rewrite (C++ and UNIX) of existing non-functional image processing, transmission, and display code. Analysis and Design of new PACSPro II Server and PACSPro II Archive product. Managed and participated in a small senior-level team to develop the products. Personally installed, and validated the Server and Archive products in a working State Veteran's Administration Hospital environment.The DICOM 3.0 compliant PACSPro II Server enhances the radiologist's abilities to access, interpret, report and distribute image data. Image Data was purchased as a subsidiary of Raytheon E-Systems Medical Electronics (EMED); after which the company and teleradiology product development were transferred out of San Antonio, Texas.

Technical Lead responsible for design and production of infowarrior tools to defend and protect military and government agency computer networks from hackers and illegal activity under contract to the Air Intelligence Agency (AIA) and the Air Force Information Warfare Center (AFIWC).One of the original main architects and Technical Lead of the first released "production" version of the Distributed Intrusion Detection System (DIDS). DIDS involved the combining of host-based and network-based intrusion-detection technologies for real-time, network knowledgeable, intrusion detection. Produced and installed the first working version of this concept along with many improvements over the next year.One of my software development tasks (C++ and UNIX) was to designed and developed an expert system to evaluate and correlate connections across all networked machines to the initial login or NID (Network IDentification) in real-time. This software combined with additional AI was used to determine if automated response actions where required by the DIDS system. This expert system exceeded operational goals on initial install. Other products were also developed under varied security clearances.

Produced custom designed reconnaissance software for the U.S. Special Forces.Defined, improved, and implemented new communication protocols for Remote Tactical Image Transmission. Assisted in the design and firmware programming of the elevator control panel.Redesigned product was provided to customers by Wells Fargo Alarm Services (PassWay 80), ADT (ACS-PC), Diebold, and Schindler Lifts.Managed the conversion of the DoorTek 324 (DT324) software from English to French for ADT Alarm Services of Canada.
