Friends and colleagues would characterize me as a thoughtful technology leader with a penchant for excellence balanced with a healthy sense of pragmatism.Apart from an extensive background in healthcare software development, I had the fortune of finding myself in a position of leadership at a very early stage in my career. Those timely opportunities led to the emergence of a principle-centered and results-oriented leadership style with a history of cultivating strong teams.From 2016 to 2024, I held the position of CTO at Vendavo, a global software and services company focused on helping large enterprises sell more profitably by harvesting margin opportunities. A key outcome of that experience was transforming the company from a single on-premises product to a portfolio of SaaS offerings stemming from both organic and inorganic means.The prior 25 years with Cerner had been spent leading the company through pivotal shifts in technology, architecture and process. I spent much of the 1990s building distributed client/server middleware, followed in 2005 by a developer en masse movement to Java and a process transition from waterfall to agile, then in 2009 launching a cloud-based EHR search product whose seminal architecture fundamentally changed the design of future solutions. In 2008, I was awarded the Engineering Fellow designation in recognition of distinguished technical contributions. Since 2010, I had executive responsibility for a core platform group that designed and built web-scale services primarily centered around identity, authentication, auditing, administration, and petabyte-sized data ingestion and processing.Never accused of sitting idle, I balance my spare time between maintaining an active lifestyle, serving as an advisor in various capacities, staying current on a variety of technical disciplines, exploring new dining experiences, and searching for the perfect cocktail.
