Privacy is an area of law with so few absolute clear cut answers in practice. My job typically is not to advise on the law, it's to develop a practical compliance strategy and roadmap that balances the legal requirements, commercial resources and risk appetite of my clients. That is rarely the same solution between businesses (and indeed between jurisdictions), but there is something to be said for the benefits of bench-marking when you work so heavily across the Consumer, Lifesciences and Education sectors. That might seem an eclectic mix of sectors to focus on at first glance, but to me they are inextricably linked (often by innovation, commercial pressure and consumer impact) and patterns and trends emerge not only in each sector, but from one to the other over time. In a world without a crystal ball, those trends are important in answering the eternal compliance question - "what should I do next?".
