I was an equity analyst at Anchor Capital. Anchor Capital fits within the JSE-listed Anchor Group (ACG SJ Equity). My industry coverage responsibilities included hospitals, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and technology.

I am setting up the risk platform and analytics dashboards for Banyan's domestic and offshore funds. This platform monitors key risk factors in real-time and plays a pivotal role in capital preservation and risk management, especially in today's volatile markets.

Farpoint Trading is a family-owned business that operates in the DIY and hardware supply and retail. Farpoint supplies materials throughout the Indian Ocean, including islands such as the Seychelles. Farpoint owns Mica Durban North, one of the best performing stores in the Mica stable.

Zest Mobile is South Africa's leading smartphone brand, offering powerful and beautiful products at affordable prices. Zest's products are retailed through Incredible Connection, Cash Crusaders, Govan Mani, Takealot to name few. Zest launched the T1 smartphone in mid-2014 through a powerful partnership with Afrihost, one of SA's largest ISP's. The launch was extremely successful with over 3000 units being sold on the first day. This set a new benchmark for South African homegrown online tech sales. Zest has been featured in national media, including television (as seen in video below).

Due to Zest Mobile devices being produced in Shenzhen, I spent considerable amounts of time in Hong Kong and China, building relationships with many leaders and firms in electronic and tech manufacturing and design. One of the key relationships I forged was with directors of Aukey International. This design house and product development firm truly spoke to me through their beautiful, minimal design and high quality products. Design and strategy are two major interests and strengths of mine. While in China, I worked in a consultant position, assisting Aukey with their Western marketing, product line strategy and social media. Aukey is a rapidly growing tech firm that is gaining attention of many notable media houses (including The Verge) and retailers. Aukey also offers OEM services and manufacturing to major brands, including Emie (http://emie.com) amongst others.

Writeboard is the world's first WiFi connected whiteboard. My partner and I founded Writeboard with the vision to create the world's first truly smart whiteboard and communal creative hub. Prototypes were made as well as an informative video. The Writeboard firmware was written in Python and a mobile app for both iOS and Android would accompany it. The Writeboard would be comprised of a beautiful milled aluminium 1080p display (in various sizes) and running off an ARM-based CPU. We faced limitations bringing the product to market as being located in South Africa, finding venture capitalists that would provide the necessary sum of funds required as well as supporting us from prototype to launch is incredibly difficult to find. While busy with various other projects, my partner and I decided to put the project on hold. That being said, we have provided inspiration and consulting assistance to other entities that are working on connected, creative tools. Myself and my partner, Nick Rout, were featured prominently in national media, including television, for this project and idea.
