Barrington, Illinois

The Garlands (est. 2002) is a premier CCRC featuring 26 villas, 262 independent living apartment homes, 30 assisted living, 20 memory neighborhood, 20 nursing care and 12 hotel suites. Multiple contract types including entrance fees to $1.4 million. HIGHLIGHTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Established multi-facet approach to Member communication supporting achievement of Holleran High Honors Resident Satisfaction Scores in top 10% of nationally surveyed CCRCs. Achieved CMS Five-star rating in all categories for skilled nursing.• Planned, licensed and led Garlands Homecare Solutions internal nursing, caregiver and companion services and platform for “CCRC without walls” in external community. Generates 15% profit margin supporting bottom line of the community.• Developed Leadership Forum and Team Member Training Excellence programs featuring approaches learned from Disney, Ritz Carlton and Franklin Covey. Promoted department managers and created succession line. Lexington Square of Elmhurst is a twenty + year old life care community of over 350 apartments which has served an upscale client base since opening. While Executive Director completed a complex corporate restructuring, and a significant renovation program of all public spaces and addition of assisted living neighborhood. Schaumburg, IllinoisFriendship Village is the 15th largest continuing care retirement community in the U.S. providing an array of services to 1000 Residents on a 60 acre campus. The current community includes 470 apartments, 28 garden homes, 99 assisted living apartments and 250 accommodation skilled nursing center. Bridgewater Place, a $75 million addition, features 170 residential apartment homes, a fitness/wellness center, spa, retail space, creative arts studio and restaurants. In addition, Friendship Center features a chapel, meeting rooms, community technology resource room and auditorium. Since my arrival, many new operational and hospitality systems have been put in place. New ideas and approaches have also been introduced to elevate the culture of this not-for-profit community, which has celebrated 30 years of caring and serving older adults in a Christian tradition of faith. Friendship Senior Options, the parent company, consists of four subsidiaries, including a Foundation, governed by quality professionals and clergy committed to its mission and vision. The Oakwood Health System is a 3,000 bed hospital system in southeast Michigan. In the late 1980’s it developed the strategy of creating “Centers of Excellence”. Oakwood Health Promotions became the operating entity of the Geriatric Center of Excellence through the Oakbrook Common Retirement Community, a full service and progressive CCRC, which opened the fall of 1990. Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services (OPRS) is a nationally recognized provider of health care, community services and residences serving over 3,000 older adults through ten different campuses. Accredited CCRC’s, progressive community services and industry leading fundraising are hallmarks of this 80 year old organization.
