The Office of State Outreach is part of the Vice President for Government Relations at the University of Michigan. Our mission was to connect the University to communities throughout the State of Michigan. My service area was the west side of the State from Traverse City, MI to Benton Harbor, MI. It was a wonderful experience connecting our faculty/students to key community projects, such as the "Your Bay, Your Say" project in Traverse City, MI; the Grand Traverse Lighthouse archeological dig in Northport, MI and many others.

I was responsible for operating two of the Senator's regional offices during my tenure: Warren, MI and Saginaw, MI. My duties included casework, community development, scheduling, hiring and training of interns and representing the Senator at community events. It was a great experience and I still carry those lessons forward in my political and professional career.
