I served as a trustee on the CFGF Board of Trustees overseeing policy and fudiciary responsibilities.

I've been a local public official since 1998 having served on the Linden City Council from 1998-2004 and serving as Mayor from 2004-2016.

I have previously served as the President of the International Town Gown Association from the June 2015 conference at George Washington University until July 1, 2016.. I was first elected to the Board of Directors in the summer of 2013. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to work on an international scale of linking post-secondary institutions with the communities they call home.

I directed the office of Government Relations at the UofM-Flint campus and spend most of my time working on "Town-Gown" issues as well as state/federal legislative issues that may impact our campus.

I am one of six faculty members teaching the "Michigan Student Caucus" class through the School of Education at the University of Michigan. It's an online class that teaches civic engagement using web based software. Once the platform is approved by the students, a legislative hearing at the State Capitol is conducted.

I serve as one of six members of the Board of Directors for the Southern Lakes Parks and Recreation Metro District. It provides for parks and recreation services for three local units of government: City of Linden, City of Fenton and Fenton Township. It was established by a vote of the residents in our three communities in 2000.It is the only Parks and Recreation Metro District in the State of Michigan with its own taxable mileage to provide the services.

MCAN will serve as the primary support and intermediary organization to LCANs by providing technical assistance and grant opportunities.Our goal: 60% college attainment by 2025!

I have served as president of the MML Board of Trustees from October 2012 - September 2013. It's been an honor and privilege to be able to represent the 554 cities, villages and urban townships of the State of Michigan regarding policies affecting local units of government.My particular focus had been on "Town and Gown" relationships: the intersection of cities and post-secondary institutions of higher education in Michigan.

I served as the Vice President on the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Municipal League (2011-2012). During the my time, I've been an advocate of "Town & Gown" policy discussions between cities that have an institution of higher education to help move the State of Michigan forward to a knowledge-based economy. I'll become the President of the MML in October 2012.

The Office of State Outreach is part of the Vice President for Government Relations at the University of Michigan. Our mission was to connect the University to communities throughout the State of Michigan. My service area was the west side of the State from Traverse City, MI to Benton Harbor, MI. It was a wonderful experience connecting our faculty/students to key community projects, such as the "Your Bay, Your Say" project in Traverse City, MI; the Grand Traverse Lighthouse archeological dig in Northport, MI and many others.

I was responsible for operating two of the Senator's regional offices during my tenure: Warren, MI and Saginaw, MI. My duties included casework, community development, scheduling, hiring and training of interns and representing the Senator at community events. It was a great experience and I still carry those lessons forward in my political and professional career.
