Network Control Technician III - Zayo Group• Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the Zayo network by serving as the centralized technical expert in a rotational 24x7 environment.• Regularly interfacing with Local Operations, Long Haul, Outside Plant Engineering, and Vendors to best isolate and resolve problems ranging from DS0 to Optical, Switch, Data, and Transport.• Broad network background and solid understanding of DSL, T1, SONET, ATM, DWDM, TCP/IP, and SS7, as well as experience with routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS) while troubleshooting voice and data circuits ranging from DS0 to OC-192• Extensive knowledge of various network equipment (voice, data, and transport) to include Nortel, Infinera, Lucent, Cisco, Fujitsu, Tellabs, Adtran.• Works as a first and second level escalation for network troubleshooting, switching, data services, and transport including call routing, switch translations, data routing and internal network transport topology and last mile transport to customer demark.• Responsible for managing network alarms and events via a Network Management System. Responding swiftly to all alerts, engaging proper personnel, and repairing issues that range from basic to complex.• Analyzes network equipment data and proactively identifies and resolves equipment and software issues. Ensures all network elements are properly reporting events and are continuously monitored.• Performs preventative maintenance and support; to include configuration changes, patches, and new software releases.• Responsible for advanced technical support of network equipment. Provides escalated support for the Local Markets and peer groups within the network management center.• Effectively uses a trouble ticket management system and associated databases to find customers, circuits, equipment, and facilities.

CSSAMO (Combat Service Support Automation Management Office)While deployed to Afghanistan I was responsible for providing network administration, system administration, and other IT tasks for all logistical systems within our Brigade Combat Team's area of responsibility. Duties included traveling to remote locations throughout Afghanistan to provide setup and maintenance of systems such as CSS VSAT, SAMS 2, CAISI, BFT, SAS-MOD, ULLS-G, SAARS, and the installation and setup of hardware & software on Windows XP as well as Windows Server 2000 & 2003 operating systems. Also created and deployed a series of data backup systems to ensure data integrity.Responsible for supporting all levels of STAMIS is the combat service support automation management office (CSSAMO). The CSSAMO includes functional experts in automation, supply, maintenance, and logistics. Provided a single point of support for STAMIS hardware, software, communication devices, local area networks, and wide area networks and managed assigned wireless and satellite equipment. Also responsible for:• Ensuring that software updates are implemented.• Maintaining hardware and software data on all STAMIS within their area of responsibility. • Ensuring information assurance compliance. • Integrating databases for new units• Coordinating signal support requirements with the signal officer. • Assisting supported units with STAMIS continuity of operations planning. • Recording and reviewing system problem reports. • Preparing an Engineering Change Proposals-Software form for common problems. • Providing user-level support training.
