I am in charge of product development at Hallett Arendt, growing existing products and building new ones. Our focus is market research in the radio industry and I manage a small team who build tools for collecting listener feedback, analysing market data (RAJAR), and more. Predominantly building for mobile and web. Since I started at Hallett Arendt we have automated many of the day to day processes freeing up more time to grow the business and take new directions.Recently I have been porting the companies flagship RAJAR analysis platform from Silverlight to HTML5. I have used AngularJS as the backbone framework and this has enabled a relatively easy transition from XAML bases layouts and the MVC architecture of our existing product. A lot of the object models could more or less be directly translated.We use a lot of API's at Hallett Arendt and recently have built a product for the UK's RadioPlayer platform that takes data collected through Google Analytics and presents it in a way that people within the radio industry can understand. The user interface was built with Bootstrap, jQuery and PHP. The back end involved clever use of caching as we were pushing the limits of Google's API.I created the engine that powers our RAJAR analysis software, for this I built a scalable C# engine that distributes it's workload to worker units. This enabled us to match the heavy demand we find around RAJAR day. It is also increadibly flexible and includes an SQL like syntax parser so virtually any question can be asked of the data on demand.The company website was recently in need of an upgrade, so we took the previous Wordpress based website and created a new implementation of it with Codeigniter handling all of the front end. WordPress was kept to maintain all of the content. We integrated the site with MailChimp to handle the mailing list and an admin plugin was also created for Wordpress to handle all the user management tasks for our office staff.

At the BBC I looked after RAJAR day analysis for the national networks. In my role I took the existing Excel based system and automated many of its labour intensive elements. I also prototyped new methods of visualising RAJAR data, taking internal BBC API's and applying them to RAJAR data.I managed a large pan BBC market research project that measured the effectiveness of the BBC's advertising campaigns and reporting the results back to key stake holders across the BBC.I was also responsible for collating the BBC's report to the EBU, this involved collecting information from across the whole of the BBC.I also looked after the BBC's SPSS contract and trained people on how to use it.
