As a Senior Manager in the Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management groups at TD Insurance, I led a team responsible for Capital, Corporate Planning, and Insurance Risk Management. My accountabilities included:- Develop and maintain the internal ORSA model for assessing economic capital needs for the TD Insurance General Insurance ("TDI-GI") legal entities.- Execute a robust and complete stress testing program for TDI-GI and provide a recommendation of the internal target capital ratios for the legal entities.- Project future expected loss ratios and premium volumes to challenge the company's strategic plan.- Lead the Model Verification program for TDI-GI, which verifies and validates quantitative models used within the business.- Lead the Actuarial Challenge program, including but not limited to reviews of the processes and controls, methodology, and/or assumptions underlying the actuarial estimation process and/or analysis in question.- Lead the development and maintenance of the insurance risk governance and oversight program framework.

As an Senior Actuarial Analyst with Aon Risk Solutions, I was highly involved with the actuarial loss forecasting, pricing, reserving and capital modeling (including capital requirements under Solvency II) of Property & Casualty (P&C) risks for professional services firms.- Provided comprehensive risk evaluations of the clients and make recommendations, alongside P&C insurance brokers, with regards to insurance program design and reinsurance arrangements that optimize the cost of risk for the clients.- Developed client-specific loss profiles and industry analyses, including the modeling of frequency and severity distributions, using standard P&C actuarial techniques as well as non-standard, novel techniques.- Reviewed and analyzed client-specific and general industry actuarial assumptions.- Created simulation models to arrive at actuarial funding requirements for various insurance programs, using various assumptions and approaches.- Created simulation models to arrive at IBNER estimates, using various assumptions and approaches.- Prepared Funding and IBNER reports for the captive insurers of certain clients.- Assisted in developing and refining financial modeling tools (dynamic financial analysis, capital modeling)- Assessed implications of Solvency II requirements on future funding and capital requirements- Worked with the other members of the Montreal actuarial team; provided coaching support to them
